Top Ten Luxury
Amalfi Coast, Italy  (From Salerno to Sorrento)

This classic European road trip takes in Italy's most scenic coastline, but don't be deceived by it's diminutive distance. The short stretch of road has an abundance of picturesque seaside villages that host spectacular views, high-end hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants. You'll be spoilt for spectacular views and you won't be able to resist a long, lazy lunches and afternoons wandering through the quaint villages that cascade down the steep hillsides to meet the sea. Pick up a car in Naples and then use the autostrada jet across to Salerno in a single hour. From Salerno, you can make your way back along the spectacular winding road that has been made famous in countless car advertisements.

Luxury Stay. Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria has perched on the edge of the Sorrento cliffs since 1834. This legendary hotel has been owned by the Fiorentino family for generations. The list of the rich asnd famous who have stayed here is too long to include but trust us, it's impressive. The hotel has  charm, elegance and the best views in town, it even has its own private lift to the beach(watch out for an in-depth report soon). Or you could nip across to Le Sirenuse in Positano. You'll have trouble spending only a day in Positano. The town begs to be explored on foot, and every spare inch of this famous coastal town is covered in picturesque pastel-coloured villas. The 18th century palazzo turned hotel named Le Sirenuse is a decadent ode to the relaxed Amalfi lifestyle.
